Miam Miam at Gurney Paragon

I got sick, although I'm recovering, I feel suffer coughing non-stop sometimes. Still, this couldn't stop me from trying out new cafe/restaurant in the island. My to-visit-cafe-list is becoming longer and longer but the speed of striking them off is slower compare to last time; time issue I guess. The speed to updating my blog also slower, I need the passion, maybe after I change the layout. Thinking. 

Went to Miam Miam, a French-Japanese style restaurant which is newly open in Paragon, with my family. I knew this restaurant through my sister, and she knew this through Instagram photos I guess; this is the power of social utility. 

Miam Miam become must visit restaurant whenever you are in Paragon, it's hard to look for a table inside the restaurant. So we got our seat outside of it, couldn't enjoy the pretty of the interior is just a waste. Good food come from clean kitchen, the see-through kitchen makes diners feel safe with their cleanliness. Oh yeah, the Miam Miam over here means "yum-yum" in French, if you want to know.

Miam Miam Special Blend Coffee (hand-dripped) . RM8.80

My daddy's must have beverage everyday - coffee, look at the milk they serve together with the coffee, it's so tiny and cute. As per my dad (I didn't try the coffee), the coffee is bitter but taste very good; as for the little pot of milk, my mum just drink it like this. Laugh.

I chose to have hot beverage, I was still hesitate whether I really want to order the hot matcha latte or not, I was so scare that the matcha taste may too strong and I might can't take it. My sister will only go for cold drinks and here comes two matcha drinks on the table. Their matcha drinks very awesome, that's why you can find matcha drink on each table; maybe other beverages are too normal? 

Miam Miam Spaghetti . RM24.80

Since we just went for hi-tea, we just ordered one main dish and share it together. You will know which is their signature easily from their menu, the picture of their signature engross half of the page; you may click here to view their menu first. Their spaghetti come in big portion, I think it's because of the plate design they use, make it looks big. The spaghetti is cooked with tomatoes, eggplant, bacon, sausage, shimeiji mushroom and white onsen egg (slow-cooked in hot water). Poke the egg yolk and churn up nicely with all the ingredient, ola, you may start to chew on them! They wrote: Is lighter and has cleaner flavors than in the west on the menu! 

Famous French Toast . RM16.80

Another signature of theirs. I didn't read their menu clearly, and thought it comes with one scoop of vanilla ice cream when they served this up to us, but ended up it's their homemade whipped cream. A little bit of disappointment slowly replace by excitement as the whipped cream is differ with those outside one, at least I eat this (you know I don't like whipped cream at all normally). Maple syrup is served together, you may pour it all in the pot of French toast as it ain't too sweet after all; pinch of icing sugar also sprinkle on the top of toast. It's really 'miam miam' to have this, the best French toast I ever try. 

Classic Vanilla Souffle . RM16.80

We went to Miam Miam because of their souffle as they served the best souffle in town. Guys love to say: let's finish all the food we order, only then we will decide whether want to order dessert or not. This is a big no if you are in Miam Miam, because the preparation time for souffle is 20 minutes each. We girls always have space for dessert even-though we can't finish our main dish, true no? Laugh. Be careful when you start to eat this, it's so hot inside out, but it really taste good lah. You can choose vanilla or match flavor. 

Sorry to tell that Miam Miam is a non-halal restaurant, sorry for my Malay friends. My first time to have hi-tea that cost us RM100++.

It's a backdated post where I went to Penang Hill with a bunch of our trainees, accompanied by JieXiang and his girlfriend, Sock Keng. Been there for times with different groups of people, the feeling is different; each time we get to explore a new place. This time, we went to Monkey Cup Garden which the entrance fee cost around RM10; first we thought it's quite costly for just a simple tour inside, ended up we enjoyed berry much inside the garden and our laughter resound the whole area. Now, the Taiwanese trainees are back to their country and our local trainees also back to their college life; as for me, I'm staying back at the same old company with colleagues, waiting for a new batch of trainees that can go crazy with us.

Gathers Cafe with family

Hello dearies, I'm back!!!! This is my first post in September, my inspiration to blog on last few weeks were gone no where, but I'm back with more posts to share with you. Stay with me okie? Can't wait for October's trip and November, my lover is coming to this little island to see me (for trip as well of course)! If you are reading this, yeah, it's you! Fly kiss. 

Back to my post, went to uncover a new cafe - Gathers Cafe, with my family at Butterworth during my stay at sister's house. More and more cafes are mushrooming at Butterworth area now, I don't really have enough time to pay them a visit, too much of them.

We were there at 10.30pm if I'm not mistaken, looking at the board outside the cafe we were so worry they are not going to serve us, since they are off soon. We were lucky, the boss said it's okay since they still have some diners inside enjoying their 'gather' moment. 

There have a few areas for you to pick your seat, if you wanna something cozy and come with big group that might spend you few hours there, you may pick their sofa area; if you want something personal with friends, then pick up a corner area that you like. 

Some of the shots inside, magazines are hanging there for your read. The bird nests concept is something looks like deliciuos concept. 

Lychee Sparkling BOMB (RM6) and Iced Passion Fruit with TEA (RM6)

I like how they display the lychee on top of the glass, my sister knew it from photos and purposely ordered that. Next time if you go to Gathers Cafe, I think you may order their hot beverages because their hot beverages display is very nice. Better than the cold one.

Lemon Cream Cheese . RM11

Gathers Cafe also selling few types of mille crepe from Humble Beginning. This is too creamy tho, I still prefer the French Vanilla more.

OREO ice cream with cookie crumbs . RM10

Their signature waffle, it really taste good with the oreo ice cream. The price for this when we were there was around RM7.50; my sister went there again a week ago, and the price rose to RM10 already. Pay them some visit if you are in Butterworth, quite worth it.

I'm on newspaper!

My company annual dinner ended well with all the help from committees, as usual I'm one of them, working through the hard time just to bring the best to the employees.  It was worth as long as they were happy with all the program and prizes. Let's throw back and see what's happening on that day; I do not have much photos to show and I only had the chance to take photos with others before and after the dinner. I was so busy (should say all the committees were) walking around during the dinner, taking the lucky draw bowl for VIP to draw the chosen one, like I said: their luck is on my hand. The walking really killed me to the max with the help of my heels, I took off my heels after the dinner, walked to my parking lot from lobby just with my bare foot. Laugh. It was damn good to step on the ground.

Joel is the one who design the invitation card for employees, ticket-like invitation card is simple but nice; let's jump to the dinner. 

Each year we will have a photo booth nearby the entrance of the hall, so that employees can take photos before the dinner start. Props for photo shooting is the trend now,  we prepared them our own, all handmade, except for the masks and hats. 

Photos before the dinner, 1: with pretty committees, 2: the only man in our committee group, 3: Taiwan trainees, only 2 of them were here, the rest went to KL on that night, they are smart isn't it? Thanks to the Gurney Hotel artist so making the background so nice, it's really prettier than the previous year. Btw, the wheels were done by us, and artists helped us to hang the wheels on clothes.

Photo after the dinner with some of the engineers, I do take photos with other engineers but it's not inside my camera, will see if they upload to Facebook not. Congrats to Vincent (middle) who got the first lucky draw prize, a touch screen laptop from ASUS. I was not in luck, that's why my number did not picked up by VIP, so sad! At least give me a shopping voucher mah. :(

I got something else from my big boss, together with my colleagues from different department. Each year (started Year 2010 I think) our big boss will have special award - Outstanding Performance, to give away and the person is selected by each department head who they think they are competence. I was clapping so hard for my colleagues who got it and out of sudden, I heard my name as well! I still couldn't believe I'm actually taking this award, thanks to my manager but too bad he was not there that night. 

This is what I got for the award, a trophy and a iPad mini with my name on it. Yippy yay yay. Heard that we are on yesterday newspaper, Kwang Ming; my sis took the newspaper back to her house, that's why I still haven't peek on that news, small column lol.

Eighty Tree Cafe . another gathering

It seems like I'm super inspired to blog this week, this is the third one for this week; I think I just want to blog most of pending posts before I create another blog-post-wave on coming trip. Can't wait, 2 more months to go. It was good to spend my whole day with my sista ppwen and Wei Wen after the piano recital, we didn't have this chance after ppwen stopped her job in Penang. Miss you miss you.

Here we were for our dinner of the night, Eighty Tree Cafe. I'd introduced this to my friends but didn't try it out myself, that's why I feel paiseh if they asked me the food is okay or not. It's hard to look for a parking lot alongside the cafe, there's a parking area just around the corner to the cafe, you may park there and walk a short distance to here. Spotted ppwen in the photo. 

The handmande menu and they also provide a food photo collection so that you can roughly know how is the food looks like. 

Comics are prepare, but look at the size, it's so tiny, and the wording is so small to read. Laugh out loud. It's so classic right? 

The owner put a lot of effort on their decoration, games are prepare as well (nowadays all those little cafe will provide a lot of classic games to diners, I think it's to kill the boredom or awkwardness during gathering). Love to take a shoot from top now. 

Mint Tea . Hazelnut Coffee . Orange Chocolate

Price range for their hot beverage (coffee and tea) is from RM4.90 to RM5.90. For coffee and chocolate drinks, they will serve together with some biscuits but mint tea did not come with one. Their drink is quite normal, don't really like the mint tea as the taste is too strong for me, but I did finish it off, don't waste mah. 

Grilled Red Snapper with Garlic Sauce . RM12.90

Ppwen ordered the grilled red snapper as well but with diavola sauce (lemon sauce), mine is with garlic sauce. I seldom order fish in western style restaurant/cafe as I prefer others, but this time I decided to give it a try and they did not failed me. When I saw the garlic sauce covered most of the grilled fish, I was so scare it will be quite greasy, but it's not and I was hoping they give more garlic sauce btw. Like the way they grilled the fish and it don't have that fishy smell at all. 

Egg Mayo Sandwich with French Fries . RM6.90

Wei Wen's. She is the one who always want to diet but we persuaded her to eat more, we sound so evil? NO, she is so thin and we have no idea why she keep saying herself fat, so end up she just order this sandwich for herself. 

When I went to foot a bill, I able to have a short chit-chat with the boss (I think) and he keep say sorry for no time to entertain us when we were there. What a humor owner. He explained why he used only red snapper instead of dory fish while others will use dory fish (cheaper) as the quality of red snapper is on top of dory fish. One thing I have to say, I don't really like dory fish, I think this is why I seldom order fish in western restaurant. 

Us on that night. Hope to have another outing with these 2 girls. Should I chop off my hair btw?
