Sabah, the land below the wind

Woke up early morning again (not that kind of 8-9am but 5am in the morning) and felt that it's time to have something done while listening to the drip drop rain. The drip drop sound remind me of Sabah, why is it so? Because the days when I was at Sabah, I listened to it like almost every night and it accompanied me when I was going to bed. So here comes my Sabah post after one month.

Told you I was there not for playing trip but to join the Mangga Travel team for their fair. If you followed my blog, you should know I joined them once during Penang Matta Fair and they are all from Kuala Lumpur. Knew them through my cousin and this time they offered me to fly with them; went to Sabah which is the first time for most of us. Took leaves and poof I had my short holiday with them.
I was flying alone from Penang to KL a day before we departed to Kota Kinabalu; thanks to Mike and Davian for adopted me from the LCCT, it was late in the midnight if you want to know. I quite enjoy that moment, I mean flying alone to somewhere; it is like I only have my own for the entire exploration, I don't need to bother how others look at me and I'll just do what I want. Dreamer
Many first time for me during the trip and I'll keep reminding myself about those memories I had until my brain cell died. Yeah, I was in MAS and compare to AA (AirAsia), the seat is really much more comfortable and bigger space. Yet, each time I really dislike the way they landing, so hard! Grrr. Had our meal inside the plane as the flight is 3 hours to Kota Kinabalu; I brought a book too but I think most of the time I was asleep than reading it, but I did finished the book on the 2nd day and I wished I had brought more books tho.
Love the sea, and the scenery. We were able to find some time before the fair, walking around the city to get some nice shots. Sabah is a good place to travel, because everything inside the city seems 'slow' and calm, somewhere away from your hustle and bustle life.
During weekend, we went to their pasar pagi to have a walk, hunted for souvenirs. You have no idea how clean is the street, we couldn't find a rubbish on the street, amazing no? The souvenirs I bought were not enough for all, sorry if you couldn't get one.

These are some of the food we had throughout the trip, no fancy seafood (which I think we should really go and try it) and nice dried shrimp (heard that it's really famous in Sabah), all we had is what you can find along the street and hawker center. Quite tasty tho.

[ A c c o m p a n i e s ]
Here comes the nice accompanies I have with me, nice travel with them and I wish we will meet again at somewhere somewhere. Davian don't like to be captured, so the one he playing with his phone is the only photo I can put up here. Specially thanks to Mike, Davian, Jimmy, Weyson and May for the wonderful days, you all made me feel like a princess and kiddo in myself throughout the trip. Miss you.

I miss Curry Chee Cheong Fun at Yap Hup Kee

I remembered my roomie Kai Yien bought me nice curry chee cheong fun during my days in uni, and I remembered how tasty it was. I seldom eat chee cheong fun unless I'm sick (when I was a kids) and it's hard to look for a nice curry chee cheong fun in Penang (if you found one, please do tell me!). Boyfie's friends called and there was a reason why I willing to leave lovely Levain that fast as I heard the name of curry chee cheong fun! I was extremely hyper along the way from Levain to reach Yap Hup Kee Chee Cheong Fun
If you were a newbie to this place, you definitely need a GPS to lead you there. We went to Pudu branch, I think they do have another branch at Damansara area, google it for more details. Look for the red shop lot when you reach that area and that's it; yuuhooo!
The first thing that came inside my eyes is this stall and I wonder where the hell is tables and chairs for diners? Don't get worry that fast, you will have your seat inside and air-con is provided, this is a plus during broiling weather. The main entrance is on right side.
Take a plate and pick your love from the yong tau foo spread laid out, the price is clearly stated in their menu which stick on the top. The next thing is to choose your main course, either dry curry chicken mee, minced pork lou shu fun (short rice noodles) or chee cheong fun with dried shrimp (you can choose curry one or the normal sweet black paste). I think they do served other type of mee, which stated in their menu. Take your seat and now wait your food to be served!
Curry Chee Cheong Fun with dried shrimp
At first I do not know why they served chee cheong fun topped with dried shrimp (for decor I thought), yet the moment I had a bite on it, it's heavenly good and it did a little help to enhance the taste. All of us did not ordered the normal sweet black sauce or other mees, so I can't show them here. This is so good until some of us ordered 2 bowls in a row; the chee cheong fun is chewy and thinly shredded which ease the consumption. It's so good until I can finish 1 bowl my own even I just had my spaghetti at Levain earlier.
Here comes the yong tau foo we picked, it was all fried stuffs here; we purposely forgot to get some soup stuff and we just realized about it after they served this up. You don't have to worry the thick flour coated with little fillings (which we always face at normal hawker center), you can't even find thick flour over here, how generous they are. You need to try their fried tofu skin roll as it's awesome and not too salty! Not much photos in this post as I'd been attracted by the food and they mumbled: eat me, don't take photo...

Dear Diary # 3

Kinda lack of feeding my bloggie now due to something something I'm busy with, the blog view stat make me feel like I should blog more often instead to get back to the normal level, laugh out loud! Ever-since the Penang second bridge collapse (in front of my company and I feel the shake my own!), I started to work OT just to avoid the crazy traffic jam and this make me feel lifeless. That's why I enjoy my weekends to the fullest to pamper myself; sometimes you might think that I play too hard but I'm actually get inspired by a term YOLO (You Only Live Once), so while I'm working hard, I should play hard to get my life balance. I shouldn't bla so much to make all the lovelies here get bored, so scroll down and skip the grandmother story here.
 | water ubah in penang |
Do you still remember the 54-foot-tall floating rubber duck displayed at Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong? One month after they removed The Rubber Duck from Victoria Harbour, we have this Water Ubah at IJM Promenade until end of August. First time in my life I saw terrible traffic happen nearby that area because most of the people want to have a peek on this Ubah bird, believe me it's a good thing.
 | polka dot casing |
I changed my iPhone casing again, no more Starbucks casings as I decided to keep them for collection only, was really broken heart when I saw a scratch on the casing! Omgimgonnadie! So I put some retro element on my gadget even I'm quite into Korean style casing which are quite hit nowadays; I'll only put them on next time if I make this spoil.
 | so called holidaaay |
Been to Sabah with a bunch of mates for one reason, definitely not for a play-trip purpose yet we still had fun throughout the weeks. They make me feel like I was a princess, I think most probably I'm the youngest among them and I really do like them a lot; hope that I can meet them again elsewhere and I miss them a lot from the day we apart-ed at KLIA. Will compose a Sabah post to show some photos soon and Triumph In The Skies 2 (衝上雲霄2) is showing now, I'm currently at Episode 5!
| hi-tea at cbtl |
Went to Neway with pals and I'm kinda addicted to singing again after so long although my started-to-be-sore throat did make me suffer awhile during that time. The food they served in Neway just couldn't fulfilled us, that's why we decided to have a second round at CBTL. I don't really like cakes except for mille crepe and cheesecake; the Chicago Cheesecake is quite awesome and melted in mouth.
| heal my crave |
I craved for Japanese food for times and I knew I might gone crazy if I didn't have a bite on salmon sushi. So, we had a great lunch just now at Azuma just to heal my craving towards sushi. Photographed on my seafood fried rice before I finished it in a second, laugh! I'm a happy girl today and this make me to stop procrastinating and have this post done.

Simple luncheon at Levain Boulangerie Patisserie

Finally finished all my small trips (within Malaysia) from here to there, it's time to have a little break and share all my stories with my dearies before I pack my luggage again for another trip. Traversing the space time and poof we are here in Kuala Lumpur for their food.
Here it is: Levain Boulangerie Patisserie which I wanted to go since my uni life; I had lots of chances to go KL yet each time we can't make it to Levain due to time constrain. This time, we tried to make it and with the help of Waze we managed to look for this colonial style bungalow restaurant. We were facing hard time to look for one parking slot, as you may see the car park provided by Levain is crowded and full even it's during weekdays, crazy no?
You can choose to dine at outdoor or indoor, personally I prefer indoor during the sunny day; I sweat a lot in this kind of weather. I was so scare that we couldn't find a table and we didn't make any reservation before that, somemore it's during lunch hour!
You will see this board once you step inside Levain, here's the steps to guide you on how to place your order, do not worry if you are the first timer over here. You may take the 'Occupied' tag from condiments counter and place it on your table so that other diners would not take your seat when you are off to the counter; so caring right? We didn't took one, we straight away went to the table once we saw someone paid their bill and we took their 'Occupied' tag. Laugh
I was so excited to see so many kind of pastries and cakes being displayed on the tray, I had no idea what to eat, too much for you to choose one. That's why I skipped their pastries and directly grabbed my food from Hot Kitchen; we were rushing to another place to meet up some friends, will go Levain again for second visit if possible. There's a fridge that full of handmade gourmet chocolates, take some of it and pay at counter if you wish to try them.
Magazines and newspaper are provided in case you need some reading while waiting for your friends to come / food to serve. Cozy
Jasmine Green Tea . RM6
Creamy Seafood with Tomato . RM13.90
Since we planned to have second round lunch with friends, so le boyfie and I decided to share a set of lunch. We can actually skipped this Levain lunch but he insisted to bring me over there since I crave to have a peek on how Levain looks like; so nice of him. So he just sitting there and wait me finished my meal, of course he did have fun with camera feature tho. I used to have bolognese spaghetti but I found out that I actually heart the creamy stuff more. Nowadays I always go for creamy / carbonara sauce, it's so awesome! If by chance I can visit Levain again, I'll try their pastry then. See ya!

The 101 Lost Kittens Project : Mural Hunting Game

Hello I'm back with more stories now, but before I go on with those new places I went, I wish to share something before it's too late (it's on tomorrow OMG!). In some of my friends' eyes, I quite into those heritage and vintage stuffs, that's why if they knew there is something (suit me) going on, they will pass me the message or signal. Glad to have them in my life.
When I was nearly fed up with those paper works in my cubicle, one of my colleague passed me this colorful leaflet and I straight away magnetized to this instead of those paper works. There are lots of events holding in Penang under the George Town Festival 2013, one of it is the Mural Hunting Game. The due date is on tomorrow (29-Jun-13), and I hope it's not too late to share this, you still have few hours to go and complete this by tomorrow morning! I drown in guilt. The treasure hunt is an integration of street art, treasure hunt, game, and public awareness campaign all taking places along Penang's Victoria Street. You may refer the map of these murals from here so you don't get lost. You may refer to 101 Lost Kittens for more information about the treasure hunt.
These are the steps to help you win in the contest. First, you need to download the Muzy app from the App Store or Google Play. Once you download the Muzy app, you can sign in either through your Facebook account or create a new account with your email address. Personally, I feel that it's easier to sign in with your Facebook account, all it needs is a 'click'. After the sign in session is done, select the 9 frame Photobox for this contest. Now you can head to Georgetown area (there will have 11 mural paintings | miao miao paintings | scattered all over Georgetown area) to snap snap snap. All you will need to snap is 8 photos of the murals and 1 sculpture. The sculpture is actually the Mama Cat sculpture which will only be released on the 29-Jun-13. So stay tune to their Facebook page to find out the location of the mama cat! Once you are done with the photo, upload the photo with your full name as seen on your IC to facebook.com/101lostkittens on that day!

You can win the limited edition Switch Their Live T Shirt if you are the first 200 contestants to upload the 9 frames photo. There will be a lucky draw for all the participants at 5pm for 3 Grand Prizes. Why wait? Let's go and get the murals now! Oops, before I end this, I would like to say that this project is actually sponsored by China House, LASSie, Switch and George Town Festival. Visit their page for more info and I hope you enjoy the game to the fullest. ^^
