Ben's by BIG

Even I'm staying in my lovely Penang island (a.k.a food heaven), still there are a lot of nice restaurants in Kuala Lumpur which I yet to try. I heard about BIG group, and I like their concept that encapsulated the love for food and how it ties people, relationship and experiences together (copied from their page). Since we were in Pavilion, Ben's just right in front of us, so why not we give it a try?
Like their design on every outlet, it's just simple like our home to have couch at the entry. Kids nowadays are really hang fok, I never step into these restaurants at their age until I'm capable to earn single penny on my own.
Saw my reflection on the mirror? Laugh! Like their hearty navy blue and white pillows on the couch, it's really comfy to dine there.
The interior is quite simple, mainly full with 3 colors, white, black and yellow (if you didn't count the couch color, haha). I really in love with their wood-made wall and all the frames and photos that show great memories are the plus for Ben's.
Getting frustrated when it takes forever for your food to reach you? Don't be. Try to read through all the little recipes they prepared for diners, if you run out of topic, refer to their table topic to let the conversation keep flowing throughout the dining session. Sweet no?
Always the best topic among men and women, agree?
Didn't ordered any drinks there, they served us the sky juice with drops of lemon, refillable btw. I have a bad habit: like to look-into napkin design whenever I go, here, they have the BIG concept printed on the napkin, simple but they bring out the message like this.
Spaghettini Pomodoro . RM20.90
All of the price in the menu consider quite reasonable with the portion like this, if you are small eater, you may not finish one by yourself, so sharing is recommended. The spaghetti is cook with their home-made traditional tomato sauce and herbs, they added the taste by topped some cheese slices. Due to the tomato pulp, the spaghetti actually tasted sour and it is quite savory after-all.
Creamy Tomato Spaghettini . RM22.90
I think I got the right name for it (it must be!), I still couldn't believe that I actually finish this pasta all by my own, while my dearies couldn't finished theirs. My first time to try something like this, when it first came to me, I thought it's something like curry pasta?! After tasted it, I found that it's quite special, it's creamy (cook with cheese and milk I think), spicy with the chili flakes and bacon is in the portion as well. The gravy is quite watery, so becareful when you have this, in case the sauce spew on you.
Fisherman's Catch . RM25.90
Highly recommend from my cousin (after I told her I dined over there). Let's start from the fresh coleslaw, lemon is come together with this dish, you can either squeeze it in your coleslaw, tartar sauce (even the tartar sauce is mixed with lemon already) and also on your fish fillet! There are a lot of sesames on the top of the homemade bun, with the fish fillet and vegetables as filling, this is awesome with few drops of lemon juice. The fries given are too much to finish by us, fries should be finish when they are still hot, yummier.
Mushroom Lasagne . RM23.90
It's consist of layers of pasta, sauteed mushrooms (their mushroom really fresh btw), herbs and lots of cheeses, then the lasagna is baked until turn golden. Together, they served a small bowl of pesto sauce and vegetables salad. Vegetables given is quite a lot as you can munch it if you started to feel greasy with the lasagna that full of cheeses
Oozy Cheese Toastie . RM18.90
You can know about what they stuff inside the sandwich from its name. Yeah, the main ingredient for this sandwich is cheese; it consist of three different kind of cheeses, cheddar, gruyere and parmesan cheese. To cut down the greasy feel, you may top up RM3 to add the turkey ham. A bowl of vegetables salad and 4 colors chips are come together with this sandwich, the chips are quite crispy when they are still hot, still we couldn't finish the chips, too much fried food for the night.
The cute waiter that always paid attention on our table in case we need his help; he looked at me when I took this photo! Laugh.
Like I said, kids nowadays really hang fok to dine here. The cute boy did a lot of funny post so that his daddy can snap it down. Cute no?
Girls for the night. Heart shape. We should have more gathering like this, at least once a year since we are far apart (not really tho).

Mochi Sweets at Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur

I can't believe that I'm blogging food again, while waiting my friend to take me out for breakfast, argh, I should stop this crime before it kills me. While I was in KL with my dearies, one of them suggested to have sweet tooth since we were suffer from tiredness and hungriness, here's go Mochi Sweets at Tokyo Street, Pavillion.
Went there few times (I mean Tokyo Street), never did I notice this little shop which sell Japanese sweet tooth, now I knew and glad that Mochi Sweets is now mushrooming in Penang as well, the first ever outlet is located at Gurney, Lower Ground Floor. Screaming!!
There are total of 13 choices (from the menu) to choose from; we were busy to take photos and discuss what flavors we want, sorry to the person who served us, I think he had a hard time when he met us, we didn't bother him even how hard he asked. Laugh! If you think the mochi is small, then you are wrong, the size is roughly three quarter of your palm, bigger than the one we saw in Sakae Sushi.
Sakura paper bag!
We bought 6 different flavors, we had Purple Potato, Sakura, Peach Cream, Mango Yogurt, Green Tea and Cream Chocolate! The guy is so sweet that help us to write down every flavor on the paper, since we really couldn't figure out which is which.
Failed photo again, but still wanted to share with you. The defrost time they stated in the menu is quite funny: 20 minutes in the summer; 40 minutes in the winter, you get what they meant? Laugh! All of them is really good, I love the Mango Yogurt the most, my favorite! Yum!

Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights with my girls

Some of my friends told me the same thing when I suggest them to have Korean cuisine, they said: Korean food is not nice while they didn't even try it before they said that. Quite sad since I'm quite fancy with Korean food also (mostly because they provide rice LOL), and the first time I had my Korean food was at Ko Hyang, located at The Gardens, Mid Valley, few years ago. It's operated by Korean family and they extended their business, total they have 6 outlets in Kuala Lumpur. By chance, I were back in Mid Valley, so we decided to pay a visit there to have pre-dinner before we headed to Wong Ah Wah, a thumb up for their chicken wings!
Didn't manage to get the Ko Hyang photo, I only have food photo here, it's just located right in front of the Cold Storage, The Gardens.
Kal Guk Su . RM13.50
It's made up of spinach handmade noodle, so the noodle color is in light green, the photo can't really show the color here. The noodle soup is serve together with vegetables and seafood / beef / chicken, here we chose chicken. The soup is quite lite and not too salty, so it fits everyone tastebuds well; we had it during a raining night, so it surely did warm us well.
Jab Chae . RM15.90
The cellophane noodles (Tang Hoon) is stir fried with vegetables and chicken / beef. The noodle is so chewy when we munched it. Yum!
Kimchi Ji Gae . RM15.90
How can we not to order the Kimchi Ji Gae? That's my love after since I had it there few years ago, the Ji Gae is with lots of ingredients, bean curd, cellophane noodles, chicken, kimchi and etc. Compare to those Korean Restaurant that I tried, the level of spiciness of this Ji Gae is at the top, very spicy yet make me want for more. It come together with a bowl of brown rice, healthy to the max.

Didn't order much dishes in Ko Hyang, since we were headed to Wong Ah Wah for second round dinner, hunt for their chicken wings!

Love at Sushi Zanmai @ Sunway Pyramid

Since ppwen didn't try Sushi Zanmai before, we decided to give it a strike when we were in Sunway Pyramid, that was our late lunch on second day. When we were first reached Sunway, the first person we saw made us feel quite excited, guess who we met? Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh, she was there to attend the Anlene event held in Sunway, didn't managed to take a photo of her, but she is stunning with her age now! Back to topic, we couldn't locate the Japanese restaurant at first, we walked around and finally decided to ask the location at Information Counter. We had no idea it located at another Atrium, it's so obscure (for me lah~).
We reached there around 2pm+, I said our late lunch, laugh! We saw people queuing to wait for their seat, at this hour, you kidding me or not? But nice food worth to wait; I like their colorful candelier inside the restaurant.
I think we waited for around 15 mins+ to get ourselves a table; Yeah this is Sushi Zanmai, not Pasta Zanmai, both with different style.
They provided sweat sauce, thought I need to request for it; tried so many sweet sauce still I like Sushi King's diluted one. Laugh
Unatama Don (S) . RM19.80
I had no idea what to order at first since I went there few times, and I tried some of them before, ended up I had this Unatama Don, the roasted unagi simmered with egg! Luckily there was no tiny bones in the unagi, I didn't ate any, but ppwen claimed that she ate some.
Kakiage Don (S) . RM10.80
Ppwen's. She always couldn't resist to prawn, over here, she had fried prawn and some vegetables. I planned to order this as well, she read my mind and ordered it, so I can tasted it at the same time too. Like the prawns as they were quite fresh.
Sushi on the day, couldn't remember the name already, of course salmon sushi is a must whenever I'm in Japanese restaurant. For the other two, I just simply heart them as well, the cheese and mayonnaise enhance the taste, and they tasted so creamy!
Hotate Teriyaki . RM10.80
The scallops are grilled with teriyaki sauce, it taste good with this reasonable price, chewy enough and I hope for more at the end.
Photos always come first before we started our meal, the culture now. Peep the wasabi we had, I had it every bite when I was having my Unatama Don, to be clarify, actually I like wasabi and I take it as a enhancer to make my food taste better! Giggle
Raining season on-going in Kuala Lumpur, when will you stop? Even during our last day over there, we also walked under the rain inside UKM, while to attend friend's and junior's convo.
