안녕하세요

Longing for Korean food for a month, so lucky to find myself some good accompanies to Aza Aza Starvil. Together with some of my colleagues and ex-colleagues, laugh, we went for the Korean Cuisine after our work.
It's not easy to find an authentic Korean restaurant in Penang; the owner of the restaurant is a Korean and marry with a Malaysian girl.
Here come our free flow side dishes, normally in a Korean restaurant you will get to eat their Kimchi, seasoned vegetables, homemade rice crackers and mash potato. The mash potato is awesome and we refilled it for times.
Japchae . RM19.90
It's Korean sweet potato noodle a.k.a winter noodles pan fried with pork and vegetables; recommended by the owner, it was quite okay.
Aza Aza Special BBQ . RM24.90
Another dishes recommended by the owner with house signature spicy marinated pork, they have waiters to serve you on this.
The barbecue meat is served together with lettuce leaves and onions, great combination!
Kimchi Jjigae . RM17.90
My favourite kimchi stew with sliced pork, tofu and cellophane noodles, you can choose either it served with white rice or ramen.
Dolsot Bibimbap . RM13.90
Always see it in drama and now I was actually having it in real! Hot stone bowl rice with egg, seaweed and vegetables, served with a bowl of seaweed soup. It will be nicer if they mix with spicy-er sauce.
Ddeokbokki . RM19.90
Another signature dish for Korean restaurant, spicy fried Korean rice cake with pork and vegetables. Chewy.
Finally got my satisfaction over here, yet I still miss the one I had at Kuala Lumpur, even nicer than here. Laugh

Pitter-Patter

A blink of eyes, May came and chucked April away from us, that was how my quarter year finished with lots of love from friends and family; more to come! I'm standing still on my place, I realized it's time for me/us to step forward, to chase for our bigger dream.
Early of May, the season of rain.

Last one for this year

Since we had holiday at Labour Day, a night before the holiday, me and Shaun went to Mario's Ristorante at Batu Ferringhi, my last birthday celebration, finally. Laugh. Went there for great food since it is recommended by his sister.
I always passed by the restaurant but never discovered this lovely place yet until that night; most of the customers in the restaurant were foreigners, because Mario's is known for its Italian cuisine and also a wine list that suit many palates.
Got our seats at indoor instead of road side, the area is quite huge, and suitable for any occasions.
This restaurant has an open kitchen that give us the opportunity to see how are the food were prepared, in the woodfire brick oven.
Antique phone that caught my eyes that night, and look at the wine bottles, they have become a candle stand for decoration purpose.
Some snapshot while waiting for our food; impressed with the bottle design that they used to put olive oil and vinegar, pine nut-like.
Pina Colada . RM18
Finally get to have another try on it aftersince I had one at Chicago Rib House which they had obsoleted from their menu. That's something like cocktail which mixed with rum, malibu and pineapple juice; my satisfaction of the day.
Carpacio Alla Salmon . RM20.50
A layer of smoked salmon, sliced parmesan cheese accompanied on a bed of fresh lettuce, drizzled with balsamic sauce, and capers.

Cheese and Spinach Patties . RM15.50
Their signature starter: lightly steamed spinach, blended with ricotta cheese, rolled and topped with a napoletana sauce.
Fettucine Carbonara . RM29.50
Fettucine is cooked with crispy bacon, chopped onions, butter, egg, whipped cream, parmesan cheese and parsley, rich yet yummy!
Mario's Pizza Special . RM34.50
Every restaurant will have their own signature dish, Mario's own one as well, they topped their pizza with red and green capsicum, onions, red tomatoes and artichoke hearts, not to forget the slice pepperoni.

Lush Greenery . Part 2

While we were eating our dinner, waiter handed us an invitation card a.k.a post card, for the Helen's Handmade Bear Solo Exhibition at Ferrighi Garden Art Terrace. The owner, Helen claimed that all the bears are handmade and she used for months just to finish a bear, impressed with her hard-work. Bears are for sales too, and part of the sale will go to Penang's Child Protection Centre.
Little bears that placed on top of the cake, most of the bears are quite costly as she created all of Teddy Bears her own.
Love this colorful button bear which cost around RM700, the only bear in the exhibition without its face features.
She also has a few of theme collections, which are not for sale, some are gifts from her friends, she unveil all the design to us.
The bears that I could own, which only cost RM10, obviously not a handmade bear from Helen.
Saw this pair of love bears on the exhibition, which cost about RM4000! Helen said the fur is real wool and she sew it on top one by one, their eyes are made from glass, you may store them up to 90 years and the bears are still that good. Worth?

I miss the bear with christmas hat.

Lush Greenery . Part 1

Even my birthday had passed, yet celebration with friends yet finished as some of my friends will just be in Penang for weekends. Met up with Xiang Yuan and we went to watch The Avengers before the dinner, my second time for the movie, great movie!
Went to Ferringhi Garden for dinner and reservation is needed because it's hard to get a table among the crowds during weekends.
The restaurant divided into a few sections, perfect for your any kind of occasion; this is the more romantic section with dim light where you will get to see it once you step into the restaurant.
The bar section at aside, order a glass of cocktail and chill-out with friends sound relax ain't them?
Candle on top of the bar table, and collection of antique dishware from former Dynasty also display in the restaurant.
If you like dining in the natural then you will definitely like the lush greenery at the alfresco seating area that they provided; where you are surrounded with garden-like plants, it means you are more exposed to mosquitoes too.
They also prepare sofa area for us so that we can relax ourselves and have more space to do chit-chatting after your meal.
Napkins on every table and seat, either in red or goldish brown; waiters will placed them on your lap after you settle down everything.
Everytime I was here (my second times at here), I could not resist taking a shot of this beautiful lamp on the table.
Cream of Wild Mushroom . RM20.80
The plate is huge for that portion of mushroom soup, they need some space to decorate the breads that served together with the soup.
Grilled Chicken . RM34.80
The chicken is marinated with rosemary, that's why they taste good, together they served baby potatoes, vegetables and mushroom.
Air-Flown Broiled Sirloin Steak . RM68.80
You will get your 250gm chilled Australian sirloin broiled to our preference - half cooked and you still able to taste the juiciness.
For their washroom part, they ever slack the decoration, you will found flowers place besides basins.
The part that love the most, where they played with colors to bring out the images of different seasons. Lovely
