First attempt at Korea Palace

My craving towards Korean food never stop and I was so glad that I paid my first visit to Korea Palace with ppwen and Wei Wen after the piano recital. 3 girls with a hank of flowers walked inside the restaurant became a eye-winker to others; who cares? Trying so hard to order our dishes as we wished to get something nice, hoping that they can impress Wei Wen; it was her first time for Korean food!
Blue and red fabric lantern which indicate the colors of Korean flag are placed upon every table, have no idea why I like this so much.
The menu, give me a 'palace' feel with all the floral engrave on it.
The cup is put up-side-down, free drink are given while we were still assimilating the menu, that's why we didn't ordered for drinks.
Hope to get a pair of Korean chopsticks and spoon, in steel, someone please help me to get this if you happen to read this! Laugh
Free-flow side dishes were served once we placed our order, too bad they do not have mash potato like Aza Aza Starvil [click me].
Kimchi Jjigae . RM18
Is a must for me whenever I go to Korean restaurant, it will have better taste if bean curd was added in the; like this kimchi inside it.
Maekom Dakgui . RM29
Grilled chicken with red pepper paste sauce, the meat is best eaten wrapped up in lettuce, stuff everything you can to have better bite.
Gyeranmari . RM15
This egg roll was not in our list at first, added in after we almost finish our dishes, to fulfill our empty space in stomach.
Last photo taken in the restaurant when we were about to leave there. Hope to have another Korean food hang out with friends soon.

de Piano Recital

Invited to go for a piano recital held by USM piano class last week (1-Jul-12) with ppwen, to immerse myself in the sentimental piano concert, and to see Wei Wen's performance. Every song can bring out the story if the pianist or audience can feel it with heart; that day, my heart was fluttering together with the do-re-mi melody, I felt great!
Music is the wine which inspires one to new generative processes, and I am Bacchus who presses out this glorious wine for mankind and make them spiritually drunken.

Eté Café, finally!

After the first session high tea at Huey&Wah Cafe [click me], we went to pick up Tien somewhere nearby her college. Wandered for quite some times and finally we made up our mind to go Eté Café which I longing for times since I read their articles months ago. Yippy!
It was not easy to get a parking lot in front of the cafe, only 2 to 3 lots are available; if you couldn't get the parking lot, just park somewhere nearby and walk to this cafe while enjoying the beautiful scene along the street.
The Eté Café is quite small, only 3 to 4 tables available in the cafe, the tippy seats in the cafe is the place where barista make their syphon coffee. Too bad we couldn't had that seats, we got ours somewhere at the entrance and let the sun beam splashed on us.
When I look up on our seats, I saw the girder painted in white, and decorated with a colorful cloth, gave me a feel of summer. Lovely!
You can request the cafe owner to put down their wood purdah if the sun make you sick, in front of the purdah are coffee gunny bags.
The only fan in the cafe if not mistaken, it's in natural color - green; looks so match with the blue tiles on the floor.
With all certificates and photos hang on the wall, it's not hard to know that they got their blue ribbon at France for coffee and pastry.
Different kind of pastries put in the fridge, waiting for you to pick up. Some of these are French style pastry, might not suit Asian taste.
She was introducing coffee bean to customers, she named herself as 洋娃娃 (Baby Doll); cute no? She and her husband, daughter are from Taiwan, now staying at Batu Ferringhi and open their dream cafe. Influenced by her passion, I feel myself in love with coffee all over again although I did not ordered one. Promised her that I'll go back again to visit her and she will teach me to taste coffee.
Ice Fruit Tea (Caffeine free) . RM8
Sea Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Mousse (RM8) and Macaroons (RM12)
The mousse is awesome, not too sweet although mixed with caramel and chocolate; never thought that I'll in love with macaroons since my last try [click me] as my first impression to them is too sweet! Macaroons in Eté Café are totally different, not sweet at all and I like them all; brown for coffee, pink for roses and blue for lavender. The wooden table beatify this photo to the max. Love!

Huey&Wah and Marshmallow!

[Huey & Wah in Straits Quay is shut down and moved to Bellisa Row to serve you better, read here for more - updated on Year 2014]

Got a message from my deary Ah Theng to hang out for high tea session, without hesitation, I said "Yes" and we were out. Planned to have first high tea session together before picking up Tien at 5pm after her class, that will be our second round. It was a broiling Saturday, so we decided to go somewhere with air-conditioner supply in Straits Quay, that's how we bumped into Huey&Wah.
The chair caught my sight once I stepped in the little cafe, "I'll scream if you fart!". Different colors with different quotes, me like!
You will find this handmade rack for magazine and wet umbrella if you have one. It's cool to have a magazine on hand with a cuppa!
Open kitchen where they make nice marshmallows, cashier at aside. Huey was measuring the ingredients needed for marshmallows; wonder why Wah was not inside the photo. Laugh. Huey is so friendly and I chatted with her while snapping here and there.
They are selling marshmallows in pack as well; before you buy, you can always try a bite on their sample. Talking about flavors, they have stout, green tea, passion fruit, green tea, chocolate and vanilla. All handmade and make colorant added.
Beside marshmallows, they also have muffins and cookies. According to Huey, these are made by their parents at home.
The interior is simple with white based; the only menu of this little cafe is somewhere near the kitchen, order before you get your seat.
This is another side wall, set of postcards are hanging on them, as a decoration, and for sale too!
Normally, the local drink can served together with 2 cubes of marshmallows [RM4.90 + RM1.50]. Vanilla marshmallow match coffee perfectly, while stout marshmallow (with alcohol content) with milo. It's best if you let the marshmallows melt in your drink, taste your drink again, you will realize your drink had changed its taste. We immersed ourselves in that environment,  enjoying the cubes.
Found this scene very cute, the customer fall asleep while handling his task. Peep the mustache pink cup! It's a good place for knock off.

It was a fine afternoon, trying new thing one by one.

Armenian Street

Been to Armenian Street last week for their function, some sort like art street event; a event that gathered people who like photography and arts. I rather go there during non-event day, lesser people and I don't need to rush here and there just to take a photo. Sign
Just happened to walk over here to snap their road sign. Laugh
14 Living Story, a shop right next to Cheah Kongsi and Amelia Cafe [here], selling classical stuff and you definitely will like it if you fancy about classical things.
Everyday if you pass by this shop, you will find this uncle sitting in front of the shop and playing with his organ, classical song of cause.
Few pairs of clogs are hanging on wall; all are hand-painted with patterns, each pair selling for RM55, suitable for collection if you like.
Saw a abacus displayed up-side-down, and they took out others and left only 4 pins on the center, special no?
Seen this before? A mural once you turn in the street, the bicycle is real tho. It's even published in magazine and newspaper.
Here's is the muralist - Ernest Zacharevic drawing on his 6th mural in Penang. He is the cause of traffic jam that day, everyone is standing on the road just to record / take photos at him. Thanks to him for beautify Georgetown; he is so damn cute!
Another hot spot of the day - Khoo Kongsi, lighting on night for their event. Took this photo before they light it. Not much photos taken on that night, crowded everywhere, surely I'll go again to take all the mural in Georgetown.

Fell for Penang, more and more.
