[ Penang ] Thai Shop | Hutton Lane

 Penang is located so near to Thailand, and this is why most of the Penangites can't resist with Thai food,
here we have a lot of Thai restaurants / stalls selling Thai food, some of them are just normal, not up to our liking;
some do tickle our taste-buds and we will go back to the same old place for more.
Even some of them taste truly good, you may still taste some Malaysian-kick in it; hey they still taste good okay.
Long story short, we been to new Thai restaurant which offer authentic Thai food, which I feel it worth a write-up here.
Thai Shop, which was previously opened their business at small alley along Kimberly Street
has moved to a better location along Hutton Lane since this November, however finding a parking is very challenging.
We never expect a huge crowd in this place during our visit, still we manage to get a seat there.
This little place is cozy and the owner try their best to fit in as many tables as possible, table for two is pretty small tho.
We got our seats and wondered why there were no one to entertain us, until we saw a signboard hanging at the staircase area,
diners who wish to dine in must place their orders at the alley (behind the shop) before finding a seat for yourself.
The workers (most of them are Siamese) will be preparing the food here, some tables are available at the back alley as well,
you may opt to get a seat here instead, but it will be quite humid during lunch time I assume.
The friendly owner who can speak in Mandarin, English and Thai will greet you and take your order,
the menu is simple and they have some of the well known authentic Thai dishes, dessert is also available although it is not listed in the menu; you may ask for their recommendation if you do not know what to order.
Cha Nom Yen (Thai Milk Tea) | RM4 . Moo Ping (Pork Fillet on Skewers) | RM8
Khao Kha Moo (Stewed Pork Leg Rice) | RM8
Their Thai Milk Tea normally come in a bigger size, so we only ordered one to share;
the Thai milk tea not too sweet compare to the one we had in Thailand, I think the owner knows we locals prefer something less sweet, although Mr.Ong prefers the sweeter version. Would want to try their Thai Green Milk Tea next time!
Moo Ping is one of the must-eat-food whenever you are in Thailand, the pork fillets come with a thick layer of pork belly which consist of some fats (not too fat) to enhance the taste of Moo Ping, so far this is the best Moo Ping I tried in Penang.
Our main dish, Khao Kha Moo, both of us ordered the same one so that we won't argue about who get to eat more on this.
The pork leg meat that served is soft and tender, the taste of the braised pork leg soup is up to our liking,
overall the taste is quite alike with the one we had in Hatyai, and this dish is basically one of the signature in Thai Shop.

Would definitely come back to try their other Thai dishes, next Tom Yam!
