Late celebration at The Eighty Eight Restaurant

When I scan through my bloggie, I just realize that food and eating had become part of me right now; I should have other activities instead of eat only! Too bad, this post is still relating to food. Spent my Friday night with Calvin to tried out The Eighty Eight Restaurant which is newly opened in town, and a late celebration for his last month birthday. Okay, I knew it due for one month.

Asked for the location before hunting for this restaurant, what we know is it located next to Cosplus signboard along the Kelawai Road.
Felt safe once we stepped inside the restaurant; feeding our stomach had became prior than other matters. Been led by a sweet madam to our table and she handed us their just 4 pages menu. Choices are not much yet we can told that all of them are fine enough for us.
The interior. Most of the furnishings are in earth color, the space is quite big but only 10+ tables available in this restaurant.
When we were there, only 2 tables were occupied; we were wondered should we call for reservation before the dinner, a big NO for that day. We can see that most of the guest are foreigners / businessmen, might due to their menu pricing, some are quite costly tho.
A must have decor, salt and pepper on table for those fine dining restaurant.
Crispy homemade bread was served once we placed our order, it come together with mustard butter, I think so, this is awesome!
Roasted Pumpkin Soup with Scallop . RM28
Something special about this restaurant, they served soup in elongated bowl, while others mostly served in a small round bowl. The pumpkin soup is thick enough and you still able to taste the pumpkin puree, the highlight of this soup is the pan-seared sashimi grade scallops, it's fresh and chewy, I just don't know how to describe the taste when I bit on it; heavenly good!
Spaghetti . RM38
This spaghetti is cooked together with smoked salmon, vodka and lemon / orange slices. The cream sauce is differ than others as you can peck the citrus taste and it do not have the greasy feel even you have it more. Notice the black thingy on the top of my pasta, I first thought it was caviar, laugh; it's actually the lumpfish roe which is often treated as caviar alternative and cheaper than caviar, for sure. The fresh citrus cream sauce still within my mouth when I burped few hours later. Laugh out loud.
Salmon . RM45
The air-flown Norwegian Salmon is cooked using the sous-vide technique. I google it and sous-vide (French) is a method of cooking food sealed in airtight plastic bag in a water bath for longer than normal cooking time and controlled temperature. The salmon  is served with its seared crispy skin, the fish is succulent and it's still fresh inside. Not to forget that it served together with fava bean puree, roasted onion jus, sautee beans and cured red raddish.
If not mistaken, this 2 sides are came along with the salmon, yet I ate quite a portion of them and no wonder Calvin was not that bloated that night as I was. Laugh. Wondered how the chef cooked the roasted potatoes that make me couldn't extricate from them, and it's better if the sweet carrot can be cooked until softer than this it. I just like to have fine dining like this, to try out special and new dishes prepare by chefs. I saw a group of diners enjoy their meals with fine wine throughout the night too.

Korea Palace again at night

Somehow I feel that I have a strong connection with food, any type of food, as long as they can make me drool like no one else. Okay, wipe my saliva before I start to blog about my yesterday dinner at Korea Palace, again! Click here to read my previous attempt at the same place with my girls. Hope that this post wouldn't make you bored as I actually ordered the same dishes like last time. My gosh
Rushed to the restaurant straight away after work; I did took my shower before the dinner tho. Luckily no serious traffic jam that hold up me from the food, and obviously not much people were there during weekdays, I can lick up my food as ravenous as I can. ^^
We can save part of our coin on drink since they serve us nice camellia tea once we found our seat, save it for great food! *Nom Nom*
Small dishes that always served before the main course, not really in the mood to have a bite on them last night, just ate a bit of them.
Kimchi Jjigae . RM18
The kimchi soup is served together with a small bowl of rice; I think I should just try another type of dish instead of this, like always.
The rice that make me crazy all the time. Yup! You are right, my all-time-favorite is rice, white rice!
Dolsot Bibimbab . RM19
This is just awesome, taste better than the one in Aza Aza Starvil; always dream that I can make it myself at home, hold a big bowl of bibimbab with the Korean spoon. The secret is on the sauce, not too spicy yet too light, just the way to suit our tastebuds.
Maekom Dakgui . RM29
Grilled chicken / pork is like a must when visit to a Korean Restaurant, this is grilled by the staff at the table next to us, so that the oil and scent wouldn't spurt and stick on us.
Kimchi Jeon . RM20
Here is the little surprise for us on the night, it's something like a Korean pancake, we got it for free! Had no idea why they served it free for us, might due to we were the weekdays customer? Laugh! This is the way too tasty although it's a little bit too oily.

Date at T.G.I Friday's

Due to National Day, we were only work for 8 hours per day this week; yet I don't really like it as the traffic make me headache and weary. Had a dinner date yesterday with my colleagues, sort of a thank you dinner for all the committees that helped out the annual dinner (oops, haven't blog about it tho); the most excited part - the dinner was free of charge!
Had the dinner at T.G.I Friday's, we didn't made reservation as there are always empty tables whenever we walk by. Good or bad?
My second time stepped into this restaurant after my first try 4 years ago, the classic plane still hanging on the same place. Heard my colleagues said that T.G.I Friday's did their renovation last year, only a few spots are differ than before, that's all.
Like the slogan: In here, it's always Friday. We were joking around that we should open a T.G.I Thursday as we didn't work on Friday. Something that never change in this restaurant is they lack of waiters/waitresses, we waited for them to serve us.
My glass of November Sea Breeze (RM8.90), it's something like a mix of cranberry juice and apple juice, topped with a lime wedge and soda on top. I can't really tasted all the flavors, I only got the sweet and sour mix taste which is taste like a Teh Ice Limau. Laugh.
Grilled snapper with tomato cucumber Vinaigrette . RM32.90
The chargrilled snapper fillet is topped with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and Basil Vinaigrette. They claimed that the rice served in T.G.I Friday's is awesome, I did tried a mouth, it's something like a herb rice, not bad!
Medium well Sirloin Steak . RM45.90
You get to choose everything for this dish, the steak and fire-grilled it just the way you like, the sauces, and the side dishes. My colleague have a medium well sirloin steak which grilled with black pepper sauce and come with broccoli and fries.
Tossed Tomato-Basil Chicken (I think so) . RM27.90
Due to sore throat, one of my colleague ordered this, without any grilled and fried stuff in the dish; pasta is topped with chopped chicken breast and tossed in tomato-basil salsa. I gave him some of the cucumbers, he seems to enjoy vegetables very much.
Friday's Shrimp . RM31.90
All of us didn't thought that this will served only golden brown, crispy shrimps and fries, at least some vegetables should come together with this what. Too plain and heaty. The tartar sauce taste the same as the fillet-o-fish sauce in McDonald's. Yum!
Tennessee Chicken & Shrimp . RM38.90
Finally, my dish was served! The chicken breast which grilled with the Tennessee sauce is just awesome and not too dry. Together in this dish, there are vegetables, crispy shrimps and Cheddar cheese mashed potatoes! Variety stuffs in just a plate.
Dessert Minis . RM16.90
I was quite excited for this at first they served up, those mini desserts just too cute to eat. From left to right we have Strawberry Parfait, Snickers Treat, Mocha Latte, Tropical Delight and Chocolate Oreo Mini Crunch. We felt disappointed for this, too sweet and they melt too fast before we started to eat them. Should just ordered a salad instead of this. Sign
Brownie Obsession . RM14.90
Not a big fan for brownie and chocolate although this look just great and savoury; I only had a bite on it. The only part I like for this is the vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Laugh

Precious moment with them

Not really in the mood for outing nowadays, due to the weather; hot and cold come together simply make me feel sick. I'll be back for more outings and foods, laugh. Had a short outing with family last weekend, it was my precious moment to spend my time with them.
This is a must for my sister to feed her sweet tooth, hope to have real Taiwanese dessert at the island.

It will be fun to travel alone.

Of then and there

"Old times" never come back and I suppose it's just as well. What come back is a new morning every day in the year, and that's better.
