Tourist Spots . Singapore

I'll put an end for my Singapore trip in this post, just roughly get through what I've done after the lunch until night time; basically there was nothing much on our last day as we decided to have a good sleep and go to airport after some bite at hawker stall nearby our hotel. After our lunch at No Signboard Seafood Restaurant, we went back hotel to get some rest before more walking comes to us.
Since I'm first time in Singapore, so the Merlion Park become my tourist spot and I die die also want to have one photo with that. I was thinking that crowds will be lesser over there under the hot sun but seems like I was wrong, groups of people standing there and finding a good spot to take photo with the merlion! By the way, I was happy to be there even I sweat a lot that time.
We reached Marina Bay Sands but decided to go Gardens by the Bay first by crossing the Dragonfly Bridge which linking both places. It was like a no ending road inside the linked bridge, I think we spent quite some times to reach Gardens by the Bay but it was worth the walk as the scenery at the garden is simply awesome. We didn't spent a tokens to try their OCBC Skyway, people were queuing for that and I don't think we have time for that, save it for next time.
Felt relief when we finally get the air-con inside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the place is so grand and huge, we didn't manage to finish the walk inside even we spent hours there. We just went to the shop that we survey earlier and get our stuff; end up we just realize all the stuffs in Changi Airport offer a better price, should have just get my bag in airport. We shopped like a boss, nah just some reward for myself after working for 2 years+, after all I should treat myself better for working like a slave. Laugh
So, we set my birthday dinner in Bay Sushi at Level B2; forgot to make reservation and we waited awhile before we get our seats. I think diners were a lot that day so the serving was quite slow and I feel that their service is not that good as we keep asking for our need but waiters were too busy to entertain us. I like the design by the way, woods and the tatami kind of feel. The food is okay (yet expensive) but personally I don't think I'll pay another visit there as their sushi roll is not really 'eater-friendly'; the sushi is so huge that we couldn't just finished it in one mouth like we usually do, when we try to bite it half and the stuffing wrap inside started to drop. I saw diners next to me having the same problem as well, end up I finished the stuffing inside then only start to munch on the outer layer.
Lastly, we bought our ticket up to the Sands Skypark that cost around $23, worth it or not you judge by yourselves; for me, I really get a memorable birthday night. I was speechless when I was up there, get the breezy wind all over my body and the night view from there is just good to end my night there. Souvenirs are available on the deck but I didn't get any, I just got myself a drink.
What I feel about Singapore? Clean and convenient but I don't like the hustle-bustle life over there, a good place for travel since their service is quite good compare to ours. Do not worry if you are first time there, the signboards are clear enough to bring you places that you want to go. Will definitely go back again but not so soon even though it didn't cost us much to travel there.

Started to plan for my next trip.

No Signboard Seafood . Singapore

Told you, it's about food so if you are in hungry mode please do not continue this post, it might make you crave for food; I shouldn't post this in this hour as well, it makes me crave for seafood, especially crabs! Before the trip, we really work hard to search for nice food in this country, we are the one who willing to spend money on food more than anything else; this trip is said to be worthwhile after we had the nice luncheon in No Signboard Seafood
No Signboard Seafood have around 6 branches in Singapore, the one we went is at Geylang which is just 5 mins walk from our hotel; we planned to have a shower and rest after the lunch. There were not much diners when we were there, maybe it was just open or most of the people choose to have seafood at night time, so that they can slowly enjoy the seafood whole night long. There are 2 partition in the restaurant, one is outdoor another one is indoor with air-con supply; all of us of course went to the latter one.
Sin-Chew Mee Hoon | $15
I just roughly state the price of the mee hoon as different portion are with different price, moreover we ordered another plate of this since this portion can't fulfilled us. Why we don't want to order another dish than this? Because it taste so good that we still stick to the same dish after we finished the first place. I'm not really like mee hoon as I always feel it is quite dry without any sauce, but this is different, it wouldn't too dry and it's up to my liking.
Crispy Cereal Prawn | $30
Wouldn't want to have only crab, so we order another seafood which is prawn, not bad tho and the prawns are so fresh. If you did order other seafood than crab, you should finish the seafood first before the waitress serve you the crab, because the taste of this prawn become so tasteless after we had our crab. The crispy cereal are so much until we couldn't finish, kind of waste I think.
Chilli Crab | $60/kg
Fried Buns (Man Tou) | $0.50/ea
You can see that I keep mention crab in this post, but if you come here without order the crab, is it kind of weird right? So we order their signature chilli crab (you can order black pepper crab if you like, one of their signature as well) and the fried buns together as the fried buns really go well with the tomato and chilli-based sauce. The sauce are too much we couldn't finish it, if you are a big eater, you may order more fried buns to clear the sauce; without the buns it will make you feel a bit spicy.
Wonder how big is the crab? Look at the claw in the photo, my thumb is only around 20% of the claw, so huge! The amount of fresh crab meat we can get from the claw are so much and juicy; this is the food that I missed the most throughout the trip, will definitely go back again because of this!
Before they served you the food, they will first served you soy sauce and one bowl of water with lime inside, we do not know what's that until I asked the waitress. She told us that we will get the strong crab smell on our hands after the meal, the smell can only be removed by using the lime. We tried, and it did work!

A walk after drip-drop

You are a fish, a fish that can bring water to places wherever you go, sometimes. Friends tend to say this to me when I hang out with them as I brought rain together with me, but why I can't have rain when I feel hot? So this statement doesn't make any sense lol. Just a short prologue to tell you that rain followed me to Singapore and it started to pour on the city after our visit to China Town.
We had this before the rain, the famous ice cream sandwich that you can choose either bread or waffle biscuits to sandwich the ice cream block with your choice of flavor. Obviously I had the mint chocolate chips and the uncle is kind enough to give us big portion of ice cream, it started to melt before we can finished the ice cream; so I munched it with high speed and rain started to pour on us ruthlessly, we had no choice but to stay in Raffles Hospital until the rain stop. Why Raffles Hospital? Because the place we were about to go next is just a street away from the hospital, it is a good spot for us since we manage to access their free Wi-Fi.

After the rain, we continue our journey to Haji Lane and Arab Street, places that I looking forward so long when we started to plan on this trip. I'm the kind of people that easily amazed by tiny little thing, or artsy kind of stuff or building; so these places are just my cup of tea. Each of the shop along the lane/street is so cool with their own design and make the lane/street so colorful. While taking photos along the street, I need to control my desire to go in each shop-lot as I might end up with empty wallet to get all the items I love.
Saw this hearty potted plant in front of a restaurant, quite convenient right? If they want some basil leave to top on your spaghetti or risotto, they just need to pluck from here; so fresh!
Went to a shop named Dulcetfig where vintage meets the modern girl, the slogan said. Told you I never plan to go in a shop-lot but the cat (who wear a garland flag on its neck) sit in front of the shop, yawning and staring on us made me feel to step inside the shop and find out what the store is all about. They sell apparels, shoes, bag, accessories and stuffs that you definitely feel to get if you are a girl; so I bought some items there, one of it is passport cover, I have a thing to passport holder/cover, forgive me please.

Ps: next up is about food again.

Ciao, I'm out now to grab my breakfast!

China Town . Singapore

After finished our breakfast at Ya Kun, we went to China Town to experience the joyful atmosphere, before that we went to money changer to change RM to SGD as I thought I might get some souvenirs there; their rate surely better than ours in Malaysia. I had bad hair days throughout the trip as I washed my hair if I've the chance to go back our hotel, no idea why I sweat like a boss and it really affect my mood (and hair); whenever I sweat during my bad hair day, my hair get affected and started to become frizzy, it means no nice photo of me when I'm sweat! Why leng lui (pretty ladies in Cantonese) never sweat or I should say they sweat elegantly, you can't even tell from the photo they are sweating on that shot; somemore they can wear long sleeve or multi-layer clothes to bring out the fashion sense in them. From here, I know I can't be a leng lui whenever I'm expose under the hot sun, I'm so screwed
Enough complain, let's get back to our topic of this post - the China Town. It was started to get cloudy (look at the dark clouds in the photos) but still I sweat like no body business, it didn't help much tho. It was quite good to walk along the street, seeing thing I hardly see in my island and I remember we helped some kids to complete their survey forms from school. Food is so tempting but I can't digest any of it after the breakfast, maybe we can consider to have breakfast in China Town next time.
Most of the shops selling the same thing with same price, so I just shopped in one shop and bought everything I want there. I have a thing with postcard, so I got myself some postcards but didn't send it back from Singapore, grrrr. We didn't have much time to walk around as we have tight schedule to follow from place to place, will def go back again if I have chance. Till then.

Writing the Singapore post make me feel to go back again.

A toast at Ya Kun Kaya Toast . Singapore

Yeah, I'm going to write my second day in Singapore and this post is about food again, sometimes I do read back my old posts and hardly find thing other than food; I'm not a food blogger tho, just feel to share food (thing) I had and who knows you might feel interested on that. Before my legs feel better, we continued our journey with more walking and looked for a breakfast place.
We planned to have some local breakfast (I'm going to have breakfast in Wild Honey on my next visit to Singapore, tee-hee heard that their egg benedict is good!) which you can easily find in most of the shopping malls or even in Changi airport - Ya Kun Kaya Toast. We went to the branch at Bugis Junction and no kidding quite many people in the shop even it was early in the morning. Order can be made at their counter, since it was our first time there, we took some times to glance through their menu that set at the counter, the aunty is so nice to explain what we will get in the value set meal.
Set A - Kaya Toast with Butter Set | $4.60
Looks tempting right? The Set A is come with 2 slices of kaya toast with butter, 2 soft-boiled eggs and one beverage, I do not have coffee in the morning, so hot tea will be perfect for me. I like the yolks running in the whites, added some soy sauce, but weird huh why the color of soy sauce is so dark compare to ours? and here goes the perfect soft-boiled egg for breakfast. It's a perfect eggs to dip your toast before you have a bite too, but frankly speaking I prefer the fluffy bread (like the one in Toh Soon Cafe) compare to brown crispy bread. The walking journey continued after the good breakfast, here we go to...

MOF @ My Izakaya . Singapore

When it comes to a new country other than mine, I'm a total road-idiot moreover I didn't take part to plan any of this, I was just enjoy myself and go every places which was planned. After the USS, we planned to have dinner at Blue Garden Korean BBQ Buffet Restaurant as they offer cheap buffet at $26.90 per pax. It was a total disaster when we only knew about they were under renovation that time, we didn't expect that to happen and we did not prepare any other plan. Since we were so hungry (after some time, our tiredness made us forgot our hungriness, can live without food now lol) and tired that time, we decided to go Tiong Bahru Plaza to hunt for our dinner.
Tried to find a restaurant which is not available in my country and we got this: MOF @ My Izakaya. We were led to their outdoor area (of course the waitress did ask us if we mind to be seated at outdoor area when we were queuing outside), luckily the rain stopped when we were there, a great time to sit outdoor and get some fresh breeze.
Macha Shakes with soft serve ice cream . $6.80
Diced Salmon Bibimbap . $12.80
Pork Hot-Stone Bibimbap . $12.80
White Clam Soup . $7.80
Before that, I prepared myself to have Korean food but now we forced to dine in Japanese restaurant, it explained why I insisted to have bibimbap (I craved for Korean food that night) but the Japanese style of bibimbap is not that spicy but sweet. Overall, the food is good, we munched the food as fast as we could so that our rice wouldn't become char after long time; I just realize everything we ordered are in hot-stone or in a pot! I love the diced salmon bibimbap the most, but I think I churn up too much and it became minced salmon bibimbap, I can't even have mouthful salmon! Their service is good and I can't help myself to fill in their survey form and give them a thumb up.
After the dinner, we bought some chicken and mushroom curry puff from Old Chang Kee which is quite famous I heard. Not bad tho.
Last place we visited in day one was Clarke Quay, it's really full of people along the pubs. We didn't get a drink there, but we bought a Gong Cha wintermelon milk tea and sat on the stairs to enjoy the night view. I think we walked too much in a slipper, I can't feel my legs that night (throughout the trip) and I remember I fall asleep in 1 minute after we back to our hotel. Laugh.

First time in Universal Studio Singapore

Universal Studio Singapore (USS) post is finally here! I just realize I didn't take a lot of pictures to be posted here, quite regret now and I'm a truly fail tourist when I get affected by the weather; you know I really hate broiling weather, once I sweat then here gone my mood. The weather didn't treat me well throughout my Singapore trip, I sweat and every photos I took after that are so ugly and not presentable to be shown here. So don't expect to see my face on these post lol. Nonsense no more, let's back to the topic. We were at USS after some rest and shower at Hotel 81, we reached there around 1pm, many of you might say I should go there on the next day I reach Singapore so that I'll have more time to play all the theme park games. We thought of that too but we decided to go there on Friday to avoid the expected heavy crowds on weekends and to save some time from queuing. Looks like we are right!
The entrance fee is around $74 if you get it from USS, if you want to skip the queue, you can buy the ticket online before you go there. We got our ticket online from Asiatravel which cost only $65, together with the ticket, we also get the $5 retail discount voucher and $10 meal voucher. Once you bought the ticket online, all you need to do when you arrive the park is to collect the ticket from their kiosk nearby the bus station. We spent some time to locate the kiosk as we not really know where is the bus station in USS.
We were here, the signature globe that you must take a shot whenever you are in USS, glad that it's not as crowded as I thought, seems like we made a correct decision to be here on Friday. It was quite hazy when we were there, not sure why.
First thing we did in USS is to hunt for food, we didn't get anything for our tummy after breakfast, pity them. There are total of 7 zones and each zone is with own themed restaurant; we didn't care about that and the first restaurant we saw is Mel's Drive-in at Hollywood zone. The food is not bad and I think it is yummeh, or maybe I was just too hungry; better than McD I would say.
You get to see many designed truck along the streets which sell small bites and beverages, they surely are picture-worth for me.
Our first ride - A Crate Adventure at Madagascar. Don't feel to get the fury ride first after our lunch, as I might puke my burger during the ride. It's some kind like a river boat ride, and you get to know the Madagascar full story throughout the ride.
The Far Far Away Castle and we were so lucky to see the Shrek and Princess Fiona in real, everyone even aunties were so happy and followed the ogre just to take a photo with them. I think we spent most of our times in Far Far Away, we played most of their rides and shows, personally think that the Shrek 4D Adventure is awesome!
Okay, we kinda skipped the whole Lost World and Ancient Egypt as I really don't enjoy the fury ride, I have a weak heart, even the rides in Genting Highlands would kill me, the rides in USS would kill me more.
I really enjoyed seeing these building, aren't they look great?
The ride that I love the most is TRANSFORMERS THE RIDE, I was cheated by the front few rows and thought that no one were queuing, once we get into the building and we just realized they queue was.... okay, it's worth queuing. It was awesome and I feel to get another ride, it's like we really fighting inside together with Autobots. I'm totally in Transformers fever now as the Age of Extinction is up on next week, I got my ticket already, have you?
My main purpose to USS was to get a bumble bee water bottle like the one that owned by janechuck, I walked around the area and couldn't look for one, all I found is this bulky water bottle or container I would say. Why they stop selling that, I want one so badly!
Ended up I got myself this portion water bottle, was too thirsty when I get this bottle and after I had a sip on it, I just realize the water bottles with better design are selling at the same price. Smack, I should just get something better than this?
After those should-not-miss-rides in USS, we just wandered around and enjoyed some shows. The Lights, Camera, Action that hosted by Steven Spielberg is quite good, he is really an awesome film maker and get there yourselves to see the movie magic. Before we left, we did some shopping there and the minion shop really make people crazy on. I didn't get myself anything except for the water bottle, I spent a lot to get my sister a bumble bee mug, now I'm regret for not getting one myself even I know I won't use it, just to keep it.
When we were about to left the place, the street entertainment is shown, and bubbles are everywhere, the best shot I got is this lol, lame not? It's really a good place and now I understand why people wanted to go there badly, for me, I'll definitely go back again for more rides and will only go there during weekdays to avoid the queue.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Perhaps I should try those rides I missed on my next visit.
