Kaffa Espresso Bar

Backdated post. I should post this right before my Vietnam trip 2 weeks ago but I was so busy packing my luggage and scaling the weight until I have no mood for blogging. I need to pick up my enthusiasm to blog, and that can make me feel good I think.
I think I mentioned before that I love to explore new places during weekdays as we don't have to squeeze with the crowd, and I don't really enjoy the environment; depends on circumstances of course. Feel lucky that I do not work on Friday, good company? Come and join us at Mini-Circuits Technologies then, promo for my company. ROFL. Back to topic. Every time I pass by the Green Hall road, the GOOD COFFEE HERE sign will always caught my attention without fail and I finally paid my visit to Kaffa Espresso Bar. Yii-hah!
You may need to place your order at their counter, pick a number, wait for the waiters to serve you and enjoy the cozy ambiance.
Kaffa Espresso Bar provided spacious area for dine-in and chill-out, each of the corner with different design but nevertheless each of the design is with a little bit of vintage, retro and quaint. Since it was noon time during my visit, outdoor will definitely a nay for me (you may consider outdoor seats during night time, will be a awe experience with zephyr); I chose to face The Beatles painting.
Present to you the second floor with a solo exhibition by Rofi, so called PSYCHE; the exhibition dates is until 7-Dec-13. Rofi enjoys painting faces and figures, he embarks on a psychological study of the face. Feel free to pay a visit before it's off.
Random shots while waiting for my food.
Cappuccino (RM10) . Salted Caramel Macchiato (RM12.50)
Guess which would be my cuppa of coffee? Grin. Definitely the salted caramel macchiato, no prize for those who got it correctly. My first choice will always goes to this prior others, I just love beverages with pinch of salt which tickle my tastebuds for a little. The taste of caramel doesn't overwhelm by the salt yet you can taste some saltiness in every snifter. The cappuccino seems too normal.
Big Bites All-Day Long Breakfast Platter . RM18.90
Wonder why I ordered this breakfast platter during the lunch hour? I just simply feel that by looking at this hearty platter already make me drool so much, and I don't want to have sandwiches and burgers for my lunch. When the waiter served this up, I had some hard time on how am I going to start this platter; after-all I started with the bread and the slice of turkey ham (or beef bacon on your choice) is meant to stuff into the bread. Platter consist of scrambled eggs (milk makes the eggs so juicy with smooth texture), a golden hash brown, one jumbo chicken sausage, sauteed mushrooms and grilled tomato (both of these are my favorite, just the sauteed mushrooms are a little bit too salty on my last few bites).
Creamy Tomato and Chicken Spaghetti . RM20.90
Other than the breakfast platter, this is the second highlight of the day. Unlike other bolognese spaghetti, the chef cooks this with tomato puree (I believe so as it really taste different) and the mix of cherry tomatoes and chicken cubes are kind of delectable. It finished up with blend of cream and parmesan cheese, sprinkle some basil leaves on top and here come our spaghetti. Normally I can only have this creaminess from cabonara spaghetti but I can have the same taste from this dish its own.

Kaffa Espresso Bar served food with no pork, it's a great news for my Malay friends. Currently they are expanding their business and you will see a branch at Penang International Airport pretty soon! Stay tuned for that and follow their Facebook for their updates.

Let's celebrate Halloween Day at China House

When I was happily dinner at La Mei Zi, thinking to add some tom yam soup in my bowl and munch the food; out of sudden I heard something screaming and run to us (not towards me only, but all the diners in La Mei Zi). I saw bunch of zombies running in the restaurant and I was like: what the heck is that! Zombies? I skipped a heart beat and then everything back to normal after I calmed down. No one even get shocked by the zombies, I think all of us get used to it after so many zombie movies are shown nowadays.
This is the piece of paper I got from them. Do you have any plan during Halloween Day? If you do not have one, you can date some friends and party in China House on this 31st October (hosted by Julie Woon). To get exclusive passes for this Halloween party, you may drop by the MACH branch at Gurney Paragon (Off Jalan Kelawai). So go and grab your passes now!!
I think I'm the only one who chase after them just to take a photo with these awesome zombies and sorry for the failed-aghast face. I was laughing non-stop when talking with them, and they only let me go after I make this aghast face. Laugh

Rain, when will you stop?

Blue Reef with buddy

Do you have friends who are not often hang out with you (maybe once every few months) yet still can have lots to talk about and wouldn't have the awkward feel when hang out with them? I have some tho. Glad that I was able to catch up with one of them last few week; Tien, a girl that I know for 11 years and still counting. Was planning to go some new cafes with her, but the pouring rain stopped us to do so, end up we went to Blue Reef, Straits Quay for our lunch. Believe it or not, I never been there before until now.
Didn't really have much shots inside the restaurant, we were too busy to crap on everything that happen on us these few months.
Cappucino (RM8) and Hazelnut Latte (RM8)
I already forgot what Tien ordered for her drink, either is Cappucino or Mocha; most probably was Cappucino as she didn't really fancy on bitter stuff. Like the way they sprinkle the choco powder on the top of the drink. As for me, I had Hazelnut Latte, quite good tho.
Soup of the day . RM8
It will be so dull if we only had main course without any side dishes, so we shared the soup; ended up it came in big portion and most of it was finished by me. It was some sort like broccoli mixed with mushroom soup, the taste is acceptable and so creamy with the help of milk. You may add 2 pieces of grilled US scallops for only RM12; we didn't had that btw.
Grilled Fish Fillet . RM16
Tien's grilled fish fillet, there are few types of fishes for you to choose in the list, and my friend chose seasonal fish. It comes with fries, seasonal vegetables topped with citrus sauce. I didn't try on it, but she sayid it's a little bit of dry it we didn't squeeze some lemon on it.
Traditional Fish & Chip (Garoupa) . RM28
My portion of Fish & Chip and I chose garoupa (the waitress recommended this to me), you may choose beer batter or bread crumbs to fried your fish and I chose the former one. I don't really like black pepper and I do not know they marinate the garoupa in black pepper sauce, luckily I manage to finish that with the help of tartare sauce. I put plenty of them on every bite. Laugh
Went to Gurney Paragon for window shopping after the lunch, we called it a day. Ended this post with our photos and I looked damn tired in this photo.

Miam Miam at Gurney Paragon

I got sick, although I'm recovering, I feel suffer coughing non-stop sometimes. Still, this couldn't stop me from trying out new cafe/restaurant in the island. My to-visit-cafe-list is becoming longer and longer but the speed of striking them off is slower compare to last time; time issue I guess. The speed to updating my blog also slower, I need the passion, maybe after I change the layout. Thinking
Went to Miam Miam, a French-Japanese style restaurant which is newly open in Paragon, with my family. I knew this restaurant through my sister, and she knew this through Instagram photos I guess; this is the power of social utility.
Miam Miam become must visit restaurant whenever you are in Paragon, it's hard to look for a table inside the restaurant. So we got our seat outside of it, couldn't enjoy the pretty of the interior is just a waste. Good food come from clean kitchen, the see-through kitchen makes diners feel safe with their cleanliness. Oh yeah, the Miam Miam over here means "yum-yum" in French, if you want to know.
Miam Miam Special Blend Coffee (hand-dripped) . RM8.80
My daddy's must have beverage everyday - coffee, look at the milk they serve together with the coffee, it's so tiny and cute. As per my dad (I didn't try the coffee), the coffee is bitter but taste very good; as for the little pot of milk, my mum just drink it like this. Laugh
Hot Matcha Latte (RM10.80) on left . Iced Matcha Latte with Softee (RM12.80) on right
I chose to have hot beverage, I was still hesitate whether I really want to order the hot matcha latte or not, I was so scare that the matcha taste may too strong and I might can't take it. My sister will only go for cold drinks and here comes two matcha drinks on the table. Their matcha drinks very awesome, that's why you can find matcha drink on each table; maybe other beverages are too normal?
Miam Miam Spaghetti . RM24.80
Since we just went for hi-tea, we just ordered one main dish and share it together. You will know which is their signature easily from their menu, the picture of their signature engross half of the page; you may click here to view their menu first. Their spaghetti come in big portion, I think it's because of the plate design they use, make it looks big. The spaghetti is cooked with tomatoes, eggplant, bacon, sausage, shimeiji mushroom and white onsen egg (slow-cooked in hot water). Poke the egg yolk and churn up nicely with all the ingredient, ola, you may start to chew on them! They wrote: Is lighter and has cleaner flavors than in the west on the menu!
Famous French Toast . RM16.80
Another signature of theirs. I didn't read their menu clearly, and thought it comes with one scoop of vanilla ice cream when they served this up to us, but ended up it's their homemade whipped cream. A little bit of disappointment slowly replace by excitement as the whipped cream is differ with those outside one, at least I eat this (you know I don't like whipped cream at all normally). Maple syrup is served together, you may pour it all in the pot of French toast as it ain't too sweet after all; pinch of icing sugar also sprinkle on the top of toast. It's really 'miam miam' to have this, the best French toast I ever try.
Classic Vanilla Souffle . RM16.80
We went to Miam Miam because of their souffle as they served the best souffle in town. Guys love to say: let's finish all the food we order, only then we will decide whether want to order dessert or not. This is a big no if you are in Miam Miam, because the preparation time for souffle is 20 minutes each. We girls always have space for dessert even-though we can't finish our main dish, true no? Laugh. Be careful when you start to eat this, it's so hot inside out, but it really taste good lah. You can choose vanilla or match flavor.
Sorry to tell that Miam Miam is a non-halal restaurant, sorry for my Malay friends. My first time to have hi-tea that cost us RM100++.

Au revoir!

It's a backdated post where I went to Penang Hill with a bunch of our trainees, accompanied by JieXiang and his girlfriend, Sock Keng. Been there for times with different groups of people, the feeling is different; each time we get to explore a new place. This time, we went to Monkey Cup Garden which the entrance fee cost around RM10; first we thought it's quite costly for just a simple tour inside, ended up we enjoyed berry much inside the garden and our laughter resound the whole area. Now, the Taiwanese trainees are back to their country and our local trainees also back to their college life; as for me, I'm staying back at the same old company with colleagues, waiting for a new batch of trainees that can go crazy with us.

It's time to change my blog layout, agree no?
